Valencia at top speed

Madrid is nearer to Valencia since last 19th December; It just takes 1 hour and 38 minutes to go from the  capital to Valencia by Ave train.

The Ave average speed is 300Km an hour during the journey. Nevertheless, it can reach 330Km at top speed. It is a huge progress if we think that only a year ago the journey took 3 hours and a half.

The improvement in the transport has changed the habits of many people who can travel more often. Now people from Valencia go on an day-trip to watch a musical show in Madrid and people from Madrid come to visit our beaches, to eat a paella and even for a stag/hen night near the sea.

There are 2 different kinds of tickets, the more economical option to travel is tourist class, which cost about 32€ one way if you buy them at least 15 days in advance and by the internet. The most expensive tickets are for business class, which cost around 140 euros and include a meal on board.

If you don´t have your meal included you can buy something to eat in the snack bar which although is not very large it has a beautiful up-to-date design.

Despite the fact that the meals are provided by a catering service, the crew have to heat them up in the kitchen, called galley. There you can find several cold stores in order to store meals and beverages, two ovens and also an expresso machine to serve fresh made coffee,

I´ve recorded a video to show you the train innars.

I hope you like it.

    Hi Sergio,

if Ave seems to you so expensive, you must try to park your car one day… It costs 32€. For me it is too expensive!!!

Many thanks for the trip Eugenia! It´s really interesting, especially for people like me that haven´t had the chance to travel in that exclusive train yet. As for vocabulary, you´ve made a useful contribution, so I´ve learnt some new words related to travelling transports: “cold store”, “galley”, beverages”…
By the way, I read in today´s newspaper that a group formed by 12 Spanish companies are going to build the “High Speed” train line (450 km long) from Medina to Mecca (Saudi Arabia).
I´m afraid that they will have more business class areas in their carriages than tourist or economy class.

    Very interesting your post Eugenia.
After watching your video and reading your post, I feel like going to Madrid to see some theatre play.

I agree totally with you Concha. We have learnt some new vocabulary for travelling. We’ll take note for the future…

I´m very glad you liked the train and its possibilities, Next year we will be able to go from Valencia to Sevilla and then to Malaga directly from Valencia in Ave train as a new line is being built now to conect those cities in less than 4 hours.
    Feria de Sevilla I´m coming!!!
