In your visit to Valencia the ancient Silk Exchange, called Lonja is a must-see. It is the most emblematic building of Valencian gothic architecture.
Make sure you go to Museum of History of Valencia, which is located in the old water tanks of the city. It has a structure of columns made of brick. Don´t miss here The Time Machine, through which you can see a recreation in video about how the city was organized in previous centuries.
I also suggest going to the ancient baths made in the fourteenth century similar to the arabic baths which are a bit modest and small, what may lead you to think it wasn´t all it was cracked up to be.
The central market it´s good value for money although some stalls can be a bit overpriced. You can find the streets noisy and dirty so be wary not to slip in steps and watch out for dog turds!!
